Massage is the manipulation of superficial and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue using various techniques, to enhance function, aid in the healing process, and decrease pain. Massage works directly on soft tissues to loosen spastic or tight muscle fibres. Tension in muscles causes pain, impedes circulations, or can cause pressure on nerves. Massage is very beneficial for people who suffer from any condition precipitated by muscle tension, or that can cause muscles to tighten up.

Thai Massage Alpha Health Services

Thai Massage

Thai massage is an ancient method of full body treatment practiced for thousands of years. Unlike traditional Swedish Massage, Thai massage does not use oil or lotion, and takes place on a floor mat with the patient fully clothed.  Thai massage uses rhythmic compressions, stretching, acupressure points and fascial stretching, and lots of movement for a comprehensive treatment that balances the body.  At ALPHA, your Registered Massage Therapist will use their hands, elbows, knees and feet to compress as they move you through a range of motion.  Thai massage is suitable for all ages and body types, and can be readily adapted to your current level of movement and flexibility.  When you book your Thai Massage, make sure to come in comfortable and loose-fitting clothing!

Massage with Reiki

Reiki is an energy healing modality and complementary therapy that works with the body’s energy field to promote balance, wellness and healing. In a Reiki treatment, the practitioner will use their own energy field to influence the movement of the patient’s energy, clearing blockages and promoting healthy movement and balance between energy centers. The theory of Reiki is that by influencing the non-tangible aspects of the nervous system, we can create an effect which will translate to the rest of the body. Reiki is not considered a primary healthcare intervention and should not replace your primary healthcare intervention, but can be an impactful complementary treatment, especially for people who experience trouble sleeping or with relaxing, anxiety, stress. Reiki is very flexible, and can be performed on its own and completely hands off, just as easily as it can be worked into a manual body treatment like massage. Note: Reiki is delivered as part of a regular massage, not as its own separate treatment.
