Home Physiotherapy

Prefer to Receive Care at Home?

ALPHA Health Services offers in home physiotherapy treatment for patients that would prefer to receive care at their home, workplace, or hospital. Our practitioners are highly skilled and we are proud to offer the same patient-centred care that we do in-clinic. The practitioner who visits you in your home also works in the clinic! This means the ease of transition is seamless, should you want to switch your treatment location.

Treatment in your home can be more convenient, and sometimes more beneficial, as it gives your practitioner the opportunity to use your home environment to facilitate rehabilitation and to achieve treatment goals.

Receive the Same Services

We offer the same physiotherapy services in your home as we do in-clinic, including neurological physiotherapy, orthopedic physiotherapy, vestibular physiotherapy, and concussion rehabilitation. We offer home physiotherapy services in Toronto.

**please note, pelvic floor physiotherapy services, and shockwave/ultrasound therapy are only offered in-clinic.

How does home physiotherapy assessment and treatment work?

Once your appointment is confirmed, your physiotherapist will arrive at this appointment time to your home/workplace/hospital. Your physiotherapist will bring all necessary equipment (portable treatment table, etc.) to fulfill a full assessment. Your physiotherapist will diagnose your ailment and suggest the treatment plan going forward.

Depending on the treatment plan, sessions in your home will often include manual therapy, home exercises, and appropriate progressions to your rehabilitation plan. Our physiotherapists are some of the best physios in Toronto and are hand-picked by Dr. Charlotte Anderson!

How long are treatment sessions?

Usually, home physiotherapy sessions are about 45min to 1 hour in length.

Do I need to do anything to prepare for home physiotherapy?

When we confirm the first appointment, you will receive an intake form via email. To help your physiotherapist best prepare for the visit, please complete this form online. Otherwise, there is nothing else that you need to do to prepare as your physiotherapist will take care of the rest!

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept payment via credit card (VISA, Mastercard, American Express), cheque, and e-transfers. Our admin team would be happy to set you up!

Is home physiotherapy covered by my health plan?

Every plan is different, but if your extended healthcare benefits plan covers physiotherapy, it will cover home physiotherapy! We can submit insurance claims directly on your behalf for most insurance companies too. Note: home physiotherapy is not covered by OHIP, ODSP, or other government-funded plans.

What if I want to switch to receiving treatment in the clinic?

No problem! All our home care physiotherapists also work at one of our two clinics.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

You do not need a doctor’s referral to receive home care physiotherapy. However, we encourage you to check your insurance company if you are planning to submit claims for extended healthcare benefits as some insurance plans require a doctor’s referral to be eligible for physiotherapy coverage.

I am in a hospital and require extra care. Can you see me?

Also, not a problem! We are able to treat in hospitals and can come to your hospital room for most hospitals in Toronto. Depending on your location, there may be a formal application process to complete before we can come in for the first visit, but we will support you in completing that to ensure as smooth and quick an approval as we can.

If you are currently at Bridgepoint Active Healthcare, we are located on the ground floor!

Home Physiotherapy Rates:

  • Initial Assessment: $225
  • Follow-up Treatments: $200

**Direct billing available for most private insurance companies.
